Walter C Bernard Jr.

Walter Charles Bernard Jr., at the age of 86, was peacefully called to his Heavenly home where he joined his loving wife of 52 years, Doris Muhs Bernard, his son Walter Charles Bernard III, his sister Audrey Bernard Morvant, and his parents Walter Charles Bernard Sr. and Eleanor Beck Bernard. His main goal was his family. He defined success as being a good provider for his family. He achieved his goal enjoying a long career at New Orleans Public Service first as a draftsman and later as an electrical engineer. His daughters Linda Bernard Freeny and Lisa Bernard and his grandchildren Shauna O’Connor and Marissa Freeny are blessed with fond memories of a loving man who defined integrity, commitment and loyalty and whose sense of humor carried him through to the end. While temporarily gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate the gift of your time with your family or within your communities to those people who are alone.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 12:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until service time. Interment will take place at Metairie Cemetery following the Mass.
