Wayne Edward Burger passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2017 at the age of 62 during a vacation in St. Croix. Wayne was a New Orleans native and more recent expat, becoming a St. Tammany resident in 2005. He was the son of the late Althea Wilder Burger and Wilbur Elwood Burger, Sr. Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathryn, three children: Erin (Mike) Mahone, Ashton, and Grant; siblings, Beverly (Kenny) Putfark, Wilbur Burger, and Barbara Reynolds. Survivors also include his extended family and most lovingly, his two granddaughters, Charlotte “Charley” and Wilder Mahone (Erin and Mike), not to mention, his three beloved dogs, Gracie, Finn and Teddy. Wayne began a career in banking with Eureka Homestead and later moved to French Market Homestead. He became a special asset manager for the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) in 1988, where he oversaw the receivership of Southern Savings, several French Quarter Hotels and Oak Tree Assets including Florida's Palm Beach Polo Club and California's LaCosta PGA golf courses. Wayne’s career continued at Gulf Industries (Covington, LA), where he held the position of Vice-President for over 20 years. Wayne brought his genuine, kind and gentle spirit to everyone. He loved to be surrounded by family and friends whether at work or at play. His other joys included his annual Cubs trip to Chicago, attending each day of the Jazz Festival and never missing a costume opportunity for Mardi Gras Day. His beloved city of New Orleans never housed a sports team he failed to follow, and he was always a partner you wanted for your trivia team in the music and sports categories.
