

William “Will” Patrick Ferguson, 19, passed away at University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1, 2025, as the result of a car accident along Interstate 10. William was born on September 25, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Chenier Reynolds (Montz) and William Sharp Ferguson III. He was a graduate of St. Therese Academy and currently enrolled as a freshman at Loyola University’s College of Business studying Marketing. William was currently working as an auto mechanic apprentice in Metairie. He was passionate about sports cars and classic cars, but most of all, spending time with his younger sister, Ava Ferguson. He was active in the Catholic Church serving as an altar server and eucharistic minister, participated in the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and previously served on Student Government. He was a championship swimmer and car club member. He loved the outdoors, country music, bull riding, campfires, four-wheelers, traveling, as well as driving his Ford Mustang and lifted Ford F250.
Will is survived by both of his parents; his sister, Ava; step-sister, Heidi Montz; step-parents, Michael Edward Montz and Amy Triche Ferguson; maternal grandparents, Marguerite Reynolds and Riecke Reynolds; paternal grandparents,, Tonya Sweeney and William Ferguson II; aunts, Chatrian Reynolds Roberson, Katie Cure, Renee Williams, Sabrina Montz, Jade Montz, Lindsey Ferguson, Fanny Ferguson, Rachelle Rayburn; uncles, Jason Ferguson, Christopher Ferguson, Scott Rayburn, Anthony Montz, Randy Montz, Robert Montz, Michael Cure, Ron Roberson, Gary Williams; cousins, Alyse Kanger, Gracelyn Rayburn, Analeigh Rayburn, Carleigh Rayburn, Zachary Rayburn, Nicole Ferguson, Michael Ferguson, Payton Ferguson, Preston Ferguson; nephews, Elijah and Rilan Montz.
William is preceded in death by maternal great-grandparents, June Nolan Wells and Milton Wells, Marilyn Gorrondonna Bangs and Gordon Bangs; paternal great-grandparents, Patricia and Michael Sweeney.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6367 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70118, on the campus of Loyola University, from 10am-Noon. A Catholic mass will be celebrated at Noon followed by a private graveside service at Metairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established in Will’s honor. The money raised will help support the academic success and faith formation of students attending St. Therese Academy in New Orleans. Donations can be made to the “William Ferguson Scholarship Fund” at any Hancock Whitney Bank location.
The family would like to thank the many guardian angels – physicians, nurses, and respiratory techs (especially Hannah, McKenzie, Thaddeus, Dr. Cheech & Dr. Riley) – at University Medical Center for caring for William. A heartfelt thanks also goes to Trooper Drake Cazes who was first on the scene of the accident and St. John Firefighter Jordan Senner who accompanied William all the way to the emergency room at UMC. All will remain in our prayers for your heroic efforts.
