Sadly, William died on July 3, 2024, due to heart complications.
William was happily married to Tammy, the love of his life and his reason for getting out of bed every day, for almost two decades. Some people may never know the kind of unconditional, unbounding love the two of them shared. It is truly inspiring. William had a deep love of family traditions, and cooking was his way of showing people that he loved them. He was one of the best cooks I've ever known. Boiled crawfish, shrimp, and crabs were his masterpieces. He learned everything about seafood from his brother-in-law, John DeMarigny, who was married to his sister Angel. They owned a successful seafood restaurant and market on Metairie Road. William's other notable skills were fishing and billiards. He was a very competitive pool player, and I got the chance to play on one of his pool teams at Mugsy's lounge, where he worked as a cook and a bartender.
William is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Bourgeois Lambly, and Ziggy their cat, his eldest sister, Tonie Bowden, who was a second mother to him, his many nieces and nephews, Charles, Jeanine, David Harrison, Nicholas Crawford, Chase Littleton, Nicole Brower, Toby, Jenny, Gary, Katie, and John Henry DeMarigny. Also, he has a large extended family in Tennessee, where his favorite cousin, Julie Espinoza, lives with her beautiful family.
Both of William's parents preceded him in death, along with his beloved sister, Angel, her husband, John DeMarigny, and most recently, his niece, Darlene Harrison.
William had many good friends during his life but none better than Tiger Lily, Mike Parks, and Kenny Prados.
Even though his body was wearing down and he was in so much pain, he rarely ever complained. He always had a smile on his face and love in his heart. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife and grateful family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of his life at Unity Church of Metairie, 3303 Richland Ave., No. 2A, in Metairie (located on the street behind Parran's Po-Boys), on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 12:30PM.
