Yvette Reinecke Zimmer

The kindest, sweetest lady, Yvette Reinecke Zimmer, passed on to the Lord peacefully on August 10, 2015 at the age of 89. Loving wife of John J. Zimmer, Jr. for 61 years. Devoted mother of Mark L. Zimmer (Shelly), Chris Ann Dunn, Anita M. Zimmer, and Rhonda C. Zimmer (Ken). Adoring Grandmother of Stacey Couture and Hope Savoie (Tommy); Bruce, John and Travis Nunez; Bryce and Derek Maxie (Lindsay). Great Grandmother of Taylor, Holden, Masson, Ethan, and Ryder. Preceded in death by her parents, Paola D’Aquin Reinecke and Lewis Reinecke, and siblings, Marie McLaughlin, Lucille Roux, and Brother Roy Reinecke, S.C.

Born in New Orleans and lived in Metairie for most of her life, Yvette was a long time parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, and an active member and Secretary of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Name Society, Rosary and Altar Societies, and Respect for Life Committee. She belonged to the Zig & Zag Square Dance Club for over 50 years. Yvette was a person of great faith. She always found time to be a caretaker to friends and neighbors for many years. Memories of Yvette will include her love of birds and gardening, but she will mostly be remembered for her devotion to her children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie LA on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation starting at church for 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park.
