Constantine Ioannou

Constantine, known as Costas or Gus, is survived by his beloved wife, Eugenia, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years; his three devoted children and their spouses: Gary and Jeannette Ioannou of New Port Richey, FL, Maria and Jeffrey Alberts of Atlanta, GA, and Georgia and Louis Abrunzo of Mahwah, NJ; and his cherished grandchildren: Lucas and Dean Abrunzo, Stephanie Alberts and husband David Levinson, and Christopher Alberts. He is predeceased by his loving and devout parents, Kyriakos and Maria Ioannou, and his brother Archie Ioannou of Windham, NY.

Costas, born in 1935, emigrated from Asgata, Cyprus, to the United States in 1953 along with his father Kyriakos and brother Menelaos. They were later joined by his mother and his six siblings: John, Archie, Tom, Sotira, Despina, and Elizabeth in 1956. He and his brothers built the Starlite Hotel, a Greek-American resort in the heart of the Catskill mountains in Windham, NY. The Ioannou family initiated the building of the beautiful Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption, also in Windham.

Costas had a successful construction business with his brother John in Closter, NJ and later made New Port Richey his permanent home. He continued with construction while enjoying the Florida lifestyle of fishing and gardening. The door to his home was always open, and he loved entertaining his family and many friends, with genuinely warm hospitality. He was a man of great faith in God, demonstrated through his generosity and willingness to help others.

The family will receive guests at: Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 9426 Little Rd, New Port Richey, FL on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.

Funeral services will immediately follow, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm, and the internment at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens, 4244 Madison St., New Port Richey FL at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in New Port Richey, FL, or the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption in Windham, NY.
