

NEW PORT RICHEY — Mr. David Fillion, 85, beloved husband of 63 years to Paula (Fortunati) Fillion, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Friday morning, December 11, 2020 at the HPH Hospice House in Hudson, Florida.
Born in Kingston, MA., he was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts by his parents the late Wilfred and Marion (Valcourt) Fillion. He attended Cambridge High Latin School graduating in 1953. He studied at the New England Conservatory of Music. Dave had a deep passion and love of classical music. He was an accomplished violinist. He was also an avid reader, enjoying books about history and science. He was a Korean veteran who proudly served with the First Calvary of the United States Army in Korea between 1957-1958.
Mr. Fillion’s lengthy work experience includes working at Raytheon and the Apollo Space Program where he was the supervisor on the heat shield project for the Apollo Space crafts that landed on the moon. Then he worked for Empress Pearls, Co. and became the top salesman in the country. Next, he started his own company, Universal Gems, in Sharon, Massachusetts selling jewelry at home parties. He co-founded the jewelry store, Gold World Jewelers located in East Wareham, with his son Steven Fillion. He retired after 30 years of working in the jewelry industry and has enjoyed living in Florida since.
In addition to his wife Paula, David is survived by his children, Steve Fillion and his wife Anne Marie of Wareham, Michael Fillion and his wife Kristen of Sharon, Massachusetts, Elaine Fillion-Crouse of Lakeville and Joseph Fillion and his wife Lourdes Reyes of Houston, Texas; also eight grandchildren whom he cherished, Kelley, Marielle and Garrett Fillion, Guiliana and Marika Fillion, Benjamin and Marissa Crouse and Jessica Fillion: a sister, Christine Fillion-Patwin of Peabody; a sister, Anne Plantier of Jackson, California; and several dear nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins and many close friends. He will be greatly missed by all his family members and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Albert Fillion and Thomas Fillion.
ARRANGEMENTS: A celebration of life and a ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Dave’s memory to the Middleboro Chapter of Rolling Thunder which is a VA organization that has been supportive to Dave and numerous veterans.
