What you May or May Not Know About
Johan Vander Meade
He was a Master Carpenter -
In Isaiah 44:13
The Carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker; he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses. He shapes it in human form, human form in all its glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.
Johan had many ideas and built many things in his lifetime. Intricate wood carvings, furniture like tables (all shapes and sizes), serving carts wooden storage units and even China hutches, you name it, Johan could build it!
When it came to hand wood carvings, Johan had the corner market on that skill. Beautiful hand carved flowers, birds, people and various items were carefully skilled with the masters hand. His wife Rosemarie painted them. What a team they were.
We actually think that Johan invented the RV’s and he unfortunately, never will receive the credit. He completely renovated a bread truck and turned it into an RV. We think Winnebago stole his idea of the insignia.
The repair shop kept Johan’s RV, then years later the RV’s started being manufactured.
Was an Accountant in disguise -
Johan was great with numbers and figures. (I guess that came from his precision tooling background.) He not only was very organized with all his business matters, but had perfect credit. Not many people can say that now days. Johan prided himself to pay everything on time!
Johan had a BIG HEART!!! -
Not only physically did he have a big heart (which was confirmed by his cardiologist). But, in the truest sense of the word GENEROUS, had Johan’s name all over it. I remember when Jason and I moved the Nashville, and mom and Johan offered to take Jason and help raise him for a year so I could pursue my dreams of being a professional singer/entertainer.
Obviously I declined their most generous offer. I wanted to raise Jason myself. Jason meant more to me than a singing career.
Johan was always there for Jason and I. He helped Jason with his first truck, he also helped us with our first home. I knew if mom mentioned that we need something, the next day or so, it would show up in our house. It was like having a male “I Dream of Jeannie” named Johan. He was a gracious, loving, giving and caring person. For years we had a standing date for lunch every Thursday at our favorite restaurant. Those who truly knew him, knew of his caring spirit and generosity.
Johan was a great friend to many -
Some are no longer with us like Craig and Johan’s brothers. But friendship can never be forgotten or replaced. Johan had many “life-long” friends. Many friends from his childhood and new friends he made along the way at the church and then those in the medical profession that assisted him in his later years. My mom meant everything to him and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. I’m glad Johan was a part of my life and I know all of you that are here are glad he was part of your life. We are all here to celebrate Johan’s life.
