

Joseph was formerly from Frostburg, Maryland and Hagerstown, Maryland the son of the late Walter and Mary Smith. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley (Snyder) Smith.
He is survived by his loving children, son, Delray Smith of Parkville, Maryland and daughter Patricia (Smith) Taylor of Port Richey, Florida. He has five grandchildren, Sarah (Smith) Potter and Patrick Smith of Milford, Delaware, Julie (Taylor) France and Adam Taylor of Land O'Lakes, Florida and Amber Taylor of Port Richey, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Paisley and Pailynn Potter of Milford, Delaware, Brianna Meece and Payton Cox of Land O'Lakes, Florida; Sisters, Lily Failenger and Anna Mae Winner.
Joseph served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War making several combat jumps. He worked at the Mack Truck Transmission and Carrier Division in Hagerstown, Maryland as a supervisor before retiring to Florida. He was an avid golfer and played softball for the renoun Martin Aircraft Bombers in the 1950's.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, September 15, immediate family from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, friends and family from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at North Meadownlawn Funeral Home, 4244 Madison St., New Port Richey, FL 34652.
