Lucy Bernice(LaFiura, nee Maffucci), 102, passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Memorial Home in Paramus, New Jersey, on April 4, 2020. Lucy was born on October 5, 1917 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Canio and Florence Maffucci. She and her family lived in Montclair for many years. Lucy married James LaFiura in 1939, and the two were married for 49 years before his death in1988. She remarried, to the late Jake Bernice in 1994, and they remained married until his death in 2016. Lucy worked as a beautician for most of her life and was the devoted mother of the late Vincent(Vinnie) LaFiura,Gerry Goulette and Florence (Flo) Stoeckel. Lucy was a dear sister to the late Gert Catalano, Joseph Maffucci, Vincent (VV) Maffucci and Mickey Maffucci.She is survived by her son-in-law, James Stoeckel, Jr., and her ten grandchildren: Lisa Mulligan(William), LuAnn Zinicola(William), James Stoeckel III(Pamela), Gina Stamper(Jay), Laurie Barber(Bill), Robert Milner(Whitney), James Milner(Tammy), VJ LaFiura, Michael LaFiura and Lisa Marie LaFiura and seventeen great-grandchildren. All will miss their “NaNa”. Arrangements are by Caggiano Memorial Home of Montclair;all services will be private.
