

Ralph Richard Clayton, a brave, devoted, and hard-working individual, passed away on November 28, 2025, at the age of 77. A resident of New Port Richey, Florida, Ralph was known for his dedication and compassion throughout his life.
Ralph's early life was marked by notable achievements, including receiving the Eagle Scout Award from the Kansas City Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, on September 13, 1964, presented by Norman Rockwell. He graduated from North Kansas City High School on June 1, 1967, and soon after enlisted in the United States Army on August 16, 1967. His military service, which spanned until October 1987, was distinguished by numerous awards, including the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Devices, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm.
In addition to his military accomplishments, Ralph pursued a passion for culinary arts, graduating from the American Culinary Federation as a Certified Working Chef on September 20, 1978. He shared his expertise as a cooking instructor at Fort Lee, Virginia, from July 1977 to December 1980 and again from January 1982 to November 1984. Ralph's culinary talent was further recognized when he received the Department of the Army Certificate of Achievement for earning second place in Danish Pastries at the 5th annual U.S. Army Culinary Competition on March 7, 1980.
Following his military career, Ralph dedicated 20 years to serving as a correctional officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections. In 2010, he relocated from Missouri to New Port Richey, Florida.
Ralph is survived by his brother John, his stepdaughter Elisabeth Becker and her husband Robert Becker, along with their children Jennifer and Wyatt. He is also survived by his stepson Andrew Olsen and his children Sage and Reed.
