Uncle Val,
You always had the best words of wisdom whenever we spoke. Your stories were so colorful and fun to listen to, you made us delicious food, and you understood the value of family.  You're an example of how to live a full and honorable life. You will be missed. 

Although we only met one time,  you and Marie became fast and true friends.  Most of our communications were through Facebook.  But I felt such a bond with you that I invited you to stay at our house during the hurricane you had to leave Florida for.  I will always treasure our conversations, and hold you fondly in my memories.  RIP dear friend.  Love, Becky

Dear Val,

Living 3,000 apart, your friendship was one that I was only able to enjoy and treasure through occasional brief messages and shared thoughts. Still, you have touched my life in a way in which you will always hold a place in my heart. Rest easy now, free from pain, and know that you will always be loved and remembered by so many. 

Dear Valentín, we met back in the early 70’s, when I first came to this country from Spain, your parents Felix and Anita were like my parents to me.  We both had great times together,  I remember how much you loved to eat “sardinas asadas” (BBQ sardines) and other Spanish food when  you came to visit us.  We will always remember you as kind and generous person, and will never forget the time you gave us Tanya, your beautiful German Shepherd 🐕 dog that we dearly loved.  You will be greatly missed, RIP dear friend!


Querido Valentín,siempre estuviste ahí para nosotras fuera la hora que fuera,aunque a la distancia,nos falto ese viaje que me decías que querías hacer para vernos,nos faltó tantas cosas..
Pero me quedo con todos los buenos consejos que siempre nos dabas,con tu humor,con tus ganas de vivir,con tu fortaleza.

This Marine and i graduated from bootcamp together....we would not let each other fail!!
Being the son of Italian immigrants we shared much in background, and i listened intently when he spoke of his time in Cuba...
I love my brother and i will miss him...
We had lost touch and he recently found me here in Florida! We got together everytime we could...but never enough😞
To Marie...you are an amazing woman and you took such good care of him!!  SEMPER FIDELIS!!

Uncle Val lived an incredibly full 70 years. He came to America without speaking any English after escaping Cuba in the wake of the revolution. He joined the U.S. Marines soon after, serving his adopted country proudly for six years during the Vietnam War. He quickly rose through the ranks both in the Marines and in his next career at Raytheon before turning $3,000 into a successful, multi-million-dollar printing company that continues to this day. Of all his experiences, Uncle Val was always proudest of having served the country that took him in and became his home. I will miss his stories  of his childhood in Cuba, his time as a shepherd in Spain, his service in the "Rose Garden" in Thailand, and his business career, among many others. I am so glad I got to spend a few days with him in January. Uncle Val will be dearly missed.

Brother in Law, Val had a big personality.  My Mom and Dad hosted us all on family vacations. Val always befriended the Spanish speaking staff, which led to seating at the best tables, the best service and little extras. He took care of them well too. Will never forget when on a cruise he spent 24 hours straight at the Casino and won the poker tournament!  We had to carry him out victorious. A proud moment, indeed. I know I speak for our family when I say that Valentine is sorely missed. Tom

Thank you for your friendship on FB. I will miss your great sense of humor, your pictures of food and funny reactions on some posts.

To bad we could not meet in Nashville last year.....

Know that Marie is not alone and her fb family will take care of her.

Val served proudly as a United States Marine. He served at Marine Air Group 15 Headquarters at MACS Rose Garden, Nam Phong, Thailand. 
Val was a new friend that I had only met about a year or so ago, but we spent great quality time when we met up with him and his wonderful wife Marie. Great food on the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, and sharing a meal at his home.
It was an honor to have been his friend,

Val and I served with the US Marines with Task Force Delta in Nam Phong Thialand we crossed paths a couple years back on our group Facebook page. We became good friends and talked all the time , he loved his family, and his life with Marie. He will be missed by so many, Semper Fi Marine until we meet again. Rest in Peace my friend 

Val, my dear friend, I will SO miss our FB conversations about food, music & politics! And I'm so sad that we were unable to meet up in St. Augustine that time, or any time since, for our cook-off. I know you fought as long as you could, mostly for Marie's sake, until you could fight no more. Happy that you're out of pain now, but you will be greatly missed. I hope you know that Marie has many people who love her & will help her. --------------- Love Kathie
