Valentine F. Fernandez, age 70, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Valentine was born September 11, 1949 in Havana, Cuba to Felix Balbino Fernandez and Anna Maria Blanco Fernandez.
Val left for Spain from Cuba in 1961 and then entered the United States in 1965. He spent some time in the Maryland DC metro area and was a business owner/operator of graphics printing in Gaithersburg, MD from 1982-1998. He moved to Florida in 2004 from Maryland where he was self employed in the used car business at Greenlight Motors from 2006-2016 in New Port Richey. Val also served in the United States Marine Corps from October 6, 1970 to February 5, 1975 during the Vietnam War. He was raised Catholic and a member of the American Legion.
Val is survived by his wife, Marie Louise Fernandez; sons, Gregory Valentine Fernandez and Michael Evan Fernandez; three grandsons; and one granddaughter.
A gathering of family and friends for Valentine will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 1:00 PM with Marine Corps military honors. A private burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida.
