Ben passed away on December 24, 2022, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by family. He was born 10/17/1940 in Vlaardingen, Netherlands to the late Ben and Katrina Vanderlinden. He lived part of his youth in Indonesia and then in Australia until he was 24.
Ben left Australia and came to the United States in 1965 to marry his wife Jama in 1966. They were married 56 years in July. Friends have said it best, there was no just Ben or no just Jama. When you spoke of them it was Ben and Jama as one person.
He proudly served in Vietnam in 1969 with the 151st as an Airborne Ranger. He stays in contact with his Army group and cherishes their friendships.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents, and his son Benny. Remaining are his wife Jama, daughter Dana, son-in-law Mike Ford, granddaughter Sydney Vanderlinden, grandsons Nicholas and Christopher Ford (Rebekah, Addie, and Asher), sister, Ann den Hartog and nieces.
The visitation will be at Alexander Funeral Home in Newburgh on Friday, December 30th at 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Kapperman Post #44 will conduct Military Honors at 1:00 p.m. with with a Memorial Service to follow.
