Bennie L. Johnson, 85, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born in Chrisney, Indiana on November 11, 1936 to his late parents, John G. and Cecil (Johnson) Johnson.
Bennie was a US Army veteran, 50 year member of the Newburgh Masonic Lodge, and was a member of Baker Chapel UMC. He retired from Peabody Coal Company where he worked in the Maintenance Department.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie (Connor) Johnson, and the mother of his two children, in 1998.
Bennie is survived by his wife of 18 years Pam; sons, Kent (Cindy) Johnson and Brent (Lisa) Johnson; grandchildren, Jamie (Aaron) Mull, Jackie (Blake) Alexander, Lynsey (Ben) Roscoe, Clayton (Lily) Johnson; great grandchildren, Blair, Rhodes, Bonnie Ellisyn, Jack, Caroline and Charlotte; brothers, Jimmie and Mike (Marsha) Johnson; sister, Jean (Henry) Taylor; stepchildren Ed (Kim) Corn, Don Corn, Vicki Pancake.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Randy Moore, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Kapperman Post #44 will conduct Military Honors. Family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the chapel where a Masonic service will be held at 5:00 pm.
