

Bobby Gene Sullivan, 94, was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on May 13, 1930 to Patrick and Florence Louise (Akers) Sullivan. Bobby and his wife of 54 years, Linda Gayle Sullivan, lived in Boonville IN where they enjoyed trail riding on horseback, Friday night dinners with “the gang,” and helping their neighbors/caring for their animals. Bobby passed peacefully in his sleep on March 25, 2025 at Hamilton Pointe retirement facility in Newburgh, IN.
Bobby is survived by his wife and five children, Kerry Allen Sullivan of Boonville, Patrick Robert Sullivan of Evansville, Charles Neal Sullivan of Newburgh, Paul Michael Sullivan of Folsomville, and Kay Sullivan Morris of Lexington, TN; five grandchildren, Kyle Sullivan of Seattle, WA, Lyndsey Bruckerhoff of Newburgh, IN, Kendra Sullivan of Louisville, KY, Kaitlyn Sullivan of Houston, TX, and Kevin Sullivan of Denver, CO; five great-grandchildren, and his sister, Dorothy Stuby of Franklin, IN. Bobby was preceded in death by his son, John Patrick Sullivan, from a previous marriage.
Upon graduating from Concannon High School (West Terre Haute, IN) in 1947, Bobby worked for Charles Pfizer until he enlisted in the Navy from 1951 to 1953, Navy Reserve from 1953 to 1958, and served on the USS Macon CA-132 as a radio operator. He was the first in his family to graduate from college. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts & Mathematics from Indiana State Teachers College (Indiana State University) in 1957. Following graduation, Bobby moved to Vincennes, IN to work for Sunray DX Oil Company (now Sunoco) as a Territory Salesman/Manager before purchasing the business and ultimately relocating to Evansville. Bobby owned and operated several service stations as well as the bulk plant that supplied his service stations with fuel, oil, and lubricants. He introduced Evansville to the first coin-operated car washes in the early 1960’s. Other businesses included a laundromat, Yamaha of Evansville, and a liquor store, motel, and used car sales in Chandler. He also sold cars for Hendrickson & Sons and Kenny Kent Chevrolet. It’s been said that Bobby could sell water to the ocean. After retiring, Bobby boarded horses and split firewood by hand to occupy his spare time. Bobby was a lifetime member of the Indiana Freemasons, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, the American Legion in Boonville, and the Dusty Trails Saddle Club of Warrick County. He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. Family and friends may visit Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
