

Jean helped sew parachutes during WWII at Reliance Manufacturing in Washington, IN. She later worked at Krouse Laundry-Pearl Laundry in Evansville. After motherhood, she dedicated her life to family.
She was the oldest living member of Mt. Olive General Baptist Church. She was a minister’s wife and was very active at several churches through her life.
Jean enjoyed gardening, walking, quilting, embroidering, Nascar, and collecting angels. She also treasured spending time with her family and especially during the holidays, her favorite being Christmas.
She was a precious soul and very sweet mother, and loved by all that knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Garland Westerfield in April of 2001; parents, Grover and Pearl Dyson; sisters, Eunice Lawrence and Isabelle Harrelson; brothers, Claude and Carl Dyson.
She is survived by daughters, Judith Ann Westerfield, Pattie S. Layman; sons, John L. Westerfield and wife, Renita, Daniel J. Westerfield and wife, Jenny, James David Westerfield and wife, Shawn, Joseph Eugene Westerfield and wife, Becky; 11 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery, officiated by Reverend James Pickerill. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 till 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 until service time.
