She was a member of First Christian Church, was a legal secretary and retired from Old National Bank. She loved to travel, hike and do needlework on items for infants.
Darlene was preceded in death by her brothers, Roland Dahnke and Reuben Dahnke.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bob Shanks of Newburgh; son, James Shanks of Calera, AL; daughter, Lisa Acord (Stephen) of Diboll, TX; grandchildren, Brady Acord, Lily Acord and Cameron Baylor, and brother, Gilbert Dahnke (Judi) of Ocala, FL.
A Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool. Family and friends may visit Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
