 Obituario de David "Duck" Cummings
David “Duck” Cummings, 66, of Newburgh, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at his home. He was born March 8, 1954 in Evansville to the late Thomas and Marsha (Gentry) Cummings. Duck cherished his career in the Navy as a Seal/UDT and was always a strong supporter of the troops and a proud American. He served many years with the Newburgh Volunteer Fire Department. He was a paramedic for 33 years with Warrick, SLR Alexander, Welborn Cardiac Unit and for the last 14 years with St. Mary’s ER. Duck retired in October of 2011. He was a proud fan of IU Basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indianapolis Colts, and was still a huge fan of Peyton Manning when he left to play with the Broncos. Anyone who knew Duck loved him. He never met a stranger and had heart of gold, helping anyway he could. He was a great teacher and always made a bad situation better. Duck could always make any one laugh. He grew up in the church, so gospel was his first love. He had a wonderful voice. He cherished the years he rode motorcycles and couldn’t believe he had one. When his health began to decline, he needed something safer. So he traded in both of his Heritage bikes and got a Harley Davidson trike, which he loved. He loved golf, baseball, bowling and darts. He enjoyed live music and would travel to see the Beat Daddys on his days off and became known as tee-shirt Dave. He could sell some merchandise! That is how he and Larry Grisham became as close as brothers. He will be greatly missed. His big smiles and hugs and his quick wit. He always has a phrase for something. David was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; brothers, Tim and Brian; numerous aunts and uncles, and brother in life and death, Larry Grisham, who passed on June 9, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Teresa (Lane) Cummings of Newburgh; son, Robbie Cummings (Gloria) of Newburgh; daughter, Brandi Jamison of Newburgh; grandchildren, Rebekah, Natalie, Carey, Lexi France and T.J. Jamison, Jr.; step-grandchildren, Tony Kramer (Kristy), Elishia Foster (Jamie),Cheryl Kramer and Kendra Kramer; great-grandchild, Charlie Ann Houghton; sister, Denise Cummings of Peril, IL; brother ,Mark Cummings (Julie) of Evansville; mother-in law, Glenna Lane of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Grace Lane of Decker; brother-in-law, David Lane (Carol) of Vincennes; friend/brother, Dr. Lee Newberry; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his beloved dog, “Trooper”.
