

Don served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electrician from 1950 to 1954. He retired as an electrician with the Local 16 IBEW in 1994 and was an active member for 58 years. He was a kind man known for his humor, willingness to help others and devotion to his family. He will be greatly missed. He loved working in his yard and garden, mushroom hunting, fishing, reading, working crossword puzzles and caring for his cat Maggie.
Don is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marian (Dorris) Harper of Newburgh; son, David Harper of Chandler; two daughters, Rosemary Harper of Evansville and Shannon Bradley of Newburgh; grandchildren, Crystal Harper Wilson, Sarah Morris, Tyler Geren and Trevor Bradley; great-grandchildren, Preston and Anna Wilson; brothers, Boyd Harper (Brenda) and Robert Harper; sisters, Maxine Mitchem and Bessie Grace; sisters-in-law Janet Krietemeyer (Norman) and Lucie Dorris; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lula Martin; brother, Charles Harper; sisters, Rita Fisher and Nita Frizzell; and brother-in-law Ralph Dorris.
Services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 30, 2015, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with entombment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
