

He served in the U.S. National Guard. Don was a member of Gateway Baptist Church, Newburgh Masonic Lodge 174, Scottish Rite, Hadi Temple, Hadi Funsters, and the Warrick County Hospital Board. He was a co-founder and charter member of the Warrick County Klowns, past president of Warrick County Council, and a Town Council member for 16 years. Don enjoyed woodworking, auto mechanics and camping. He was truly a family man who loved his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, William Wilkey, Eugene Wilkey, Bettye Crook, Thelma Daugherty, Stephen Wilkey; and grandchildren, Jordan Evans and Christina Ebling.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Wilkey; children, Donna Evans (Jim), Tina Whitaker (Jeffrey), Ray Wilkey (Cindy), Michelle Crane; grandchildren, Jacob Evans (Cortney), Jessica Bowling (Dakotah), Megan Whitaker, Jared Whitaker, Tarren Wilkey, A.J. Ebling, Shelby Crane, Brandon Crane; great-grandchild, Brantley Sparks; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Deaconess Gateway ICU, Dr. Allaw and Dr. Starrett for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, October 16, 2017, at Gateway Baptist Church, 7564 W. State Road 66, Newburgh, officiated by Rev. Morgan Flagler with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 3-8 PM on Sunday at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, w/a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM and 10:00 AM until service time on Monday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children – Cincinnati Burns Hospital, or Gateway Baptist Church.
