Esther was born on June 21, 1926, to the late James R. and Ethel Spry. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1944. Shortly after, Esther met and married the love of her life, Jim Singleton, a pilot who later flew for Pan American. Esther moved with Jim to Long Island, NY, then to Parsippany, NJ, where they launched a private commercial flight business.
Esther and Jim moved back home in 1985 and put down roots in Newburgh for the following decades. Esther was widely known as a fun-loving and generous person who would do anything for family, loved ones, and friends. She cherished her friendships from all phases of her life, and maintained contact with friends from high school, flying days, and beyond. She made many trips to Las Vegas to meet with a wide circle of friends, see shows and enjoy their company. In recent years, her interests included watching TV and spending time with her beloved Shih Tzus, Dude and Scooter. Esther was always a dog lover and an avid supporter of animal charities.
Esther is survived by her dear sister and soul mate, Millie Waitman, nephew Randy Waitman, nephew Earl Waitman (Pam), all of Evansville; sister-in-law Virginia Singleton of Rockport; nephews Alan Singleton (Jackie) of Floyd’s Knob, IN, and Scott Singleton (Vickie), of Rockport; nephew Kurt Singleton of Evansville; nephews Ken Singleton, Mark Singleton, Keith Singleton and niece Jean McPherson.
Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim, her parents, aunts and uncles and all siblings other than Millie.
