

George Anthony Whalen, 91, of Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on April 14, 2026. He was born on December 22, 1934, in Evansville, Indiana, to Thomas A. Whalen and Floriss O. (Dejarnette) Whalen, where he was also raised.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army and later built a career as a salesman. He was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and was known for his love of golf, dancing, and genealogy. George especially cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his children; Toni (Terri) Smith and Brad (Amy) Whalen; his sister, Gidget (Floyd) Asonwha; his grandchildren, Nichole Claar, Justin (Amanda) Whalen, and Trent Smith; his great-grandchildren, Neveya Claar, Landen Gibbs-Whalen, Lily Marshall, and Kennedy Marshall; and his great-great-grandchildren, Aiden and Luna.
George was preceded in death by his son, Michael Whalen; his life partner, Sue Dormeier, and his brother, Thomas D. Whalen.
He took great pride in his family and found special joy in watching his great-grandson, Landen, play high school golf, he was truly his biggest fan. Affectionately known as "George the Great," he will be remembered for his presence, his passion for life, and the love he had for those around him.
George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
A Graveside Service will be at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Zion Cemetery, 10544 Stanley Road, Elberfeld, IN.
