Jacqueline “Jacqui” Rebekah Johnson, 23, went to be with God on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Jacqui had Glycogen Storage Disease type 1A, but in no way let that hinder her love of life. She was born March 22, 1991, the daughter of John and Janet (Schimmel) Johnson.
She graduated from Castle High School in 2009; from Ivy Tech Community College in 2012, Magna Cum Laude, with an Associate in Business Administration; and from Western Governor’s University in August 2014, with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Kappa Beta Delta. Jacqui was a beautiful, Godly woman who loved others and always had a smile on her face. She attended First Christian Church in Newburgh. The most memorable aspect of this incredible woman was the positivity and love that she radiated through every second of her life. She left her mark on every family member, friend, and stranger whose path she crossed.
Jacqueline is survived by her parents, John and Janet Johnson; sisters, Jessica Johnson and Jennifer Nixon; brother, Joseph Nixon and his wife, Ashley; nephew, Jasper Nixon; aunt and uncle, Colleen and Mike Retter; and pets, Max and Birdie.
A Celebration of Life service will be 3:00 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014, at First Christian Church in Newburgh. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Florida Foundation, INC. In the memo line please write GSD 1A Fund in Memory of Jacqueline Johnson. The cure for GSD needs funding to be approved by the FDA so that others may be healed.
