Jeffrey "Jeff" Byrne

Jeffrey “Jeff” Byrne, 81, entered Heaven on Thursday, December 3, 2020 due to COVID-19 complications at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, IN. He was born July 15, 1939 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Maurice and Edna (Kinney) Byrne.

He grew in up in Cavalier, ND. Jeff earned a PhD in Heart Research and worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals for 25 years before retiring in 1994. He was a proud member of the Lutheran Church wherever he lived. He took a Homiletics course and was a Lay Minister for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and served occasionally as a Supply Pastor for churches in Indiana and Kentucky. He also served as President of the Board of the Warrick County Museum and was involved with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville. Jeff sang with the Philharmonic Choruses in Evansville, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. He sang in the Lutheran Church choirs, sang karaoke, loved to read, watch sports, played guitar and helped others. Mostly, he was a great Christian, Father, Husband and Friend. He will be missed by many who knew him and called him friend, but most of all by his family here on earth.

Jeff leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Margaret Ann (Kaiser) Byrne; sons, Christopher Byrne and Jason Byrne; daughter, Maura (Dudley) Green; granddaughters, Janice Green and Samantha Green; his beloved sister, Jackie Jensen, and nephews, Matt Jensen and Michael Jensen.

A Funeral Service will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor James Culver. The service will be available on livestream at www.Facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA. Friends may visit Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
