Jeff was born November 11, 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio to Charles W. and Johanna (Sluger) who preceded him in death. He grew up in Chardon, Ohio until his family moved to Barrington, Illinois in 1972. He graduated in 1976 from Barrington High School and in 1980 from the University of Evansville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Affectionately known as “Skipper,” he was devoted to Sig Ep and cherished his 40 year friendships with his close-knit group of brothers.
A beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Jeff’s love and dedication to his family and friends will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Cindy (Bland); two daughters, Courtney of Louisville, KY and Caitlyn at Butler University in Indianapolis; sister, Lisa Depies (Steve) of Phoenix, AZ; mother-in-law; sisters and brothers-in-law; one niece; four nephews; aunts; and cousins.
Those who knew Jeff know that the time he spent in Door County with family and a close group of friends were some of the happiest days of his life. He discovered his passion for Door County in high school while on family vacations with his best friend and later, best man at his wedding. Shortly after they were married, he introduced Cindy to the area, and thus began a shared passion and love for Door County that never stopped growing. Courtney and Caitlyn shared their parent’s love of Door County and were already looking forward to their family trip this summer. He always had a cabin project he was working on, yet enjoyed the quiet and relaxing times on the deck overlooking Green Bay, and the peacefulness of a Door County Sunset. His family and friends are comforted knowing that he spent the last few hours of his life at his “Happy Place” opening the family cabin for the season.
Jeff was proud to have worked for the past 17 years as Senior V.P. Fixed Income Manager at Lynch & Associates in Newburgh, Indiana. He always felt a member of the Lynch family.
A Celebration of Life Service was held 4:00 PM, Sunday, May 1, 2016, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, Newburgh Young Life Area Director, with burial in Bethel Church Cemetery in Freelandville, IN at a later date. Friends visited from 1-4 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
