Jerry Wayne Schauss

Jerry Wayne Schauss, 75, of Newburgh, IN passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital (formerly St. Mary's). He was born on December 22, 1949 in Evansville, IN to the late Edgar and Margie (Trautvetter) Schauss.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Castle High School and received an Associate Degree at Sam's Technical Institute. He worked as Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician, CBET, retiring from St. Mary's Hospital after 38 years. He enjoyed gardening and repairing "everything" for family and friends. Jerry was an active member of Zion UCC in Newburgh where he had been a past president of the church council and helped maintain the church building and grounds.

Jerry was a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He had been stationed on the Matsu Island, where he was an electronics and communication specialist.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Donna (Swan) Schauss; son, Darrell Schauss; daughter, Stacey Schauss Moore (Jeff); grandson, Hunter Moore; twin sister, Mary (Schauss) Herrel (John); nieces, Lindsey Herrel, MD and Heather (Herrel) Lozynski (Shane); and great nieces, Sydney, Scarlett and Savannah.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Pastor Dan Kennedy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery.
