John Edward “Ed” Jarboe, 79, of Newburgh, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. He was born November 15, 1944 in Baltimore, MD to the late John A. and Thelma (Roemer) Jarboe. Ed received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland in 1967 and went on to earn his MBA while working as the Assistant Director of Housing for the university. After finishing this degree, Ed was employed with IBM at the East Fishkill, NY World Trade Distribution Center as an accountant. In 1975 he transferred to IBM World Trade Corporation in Westchester, NY, starting as an accounting manager in the Europe/Asia (EMEA) group. He subsequently held managerial positions in accounting, treasury and marketing organizations, including a four year assignment in London, UK. Upon returning to the states Ed worked for IBM in the same capacity in Atlanta, GA. Following his early retirement from IBM in 1993, he was employed with Conway Data Association Management and Publishing Company as Director of Chapters for the Association IDRC and Executive Director of NAPO. At Conway Data, Ed built strong relationships with colleagues who then became lifelong friends. He was a respected mentor and appreciated by anyone who crossed his path. In 2003 Ed retired from Conway Data. He spent his post retirement years helping others in many ways. Ed volunteered at the Primrose assisted living facility in Roswell, GA where he enjoyed taking residents out to lunch and visiting with them. Playing the guitar and singing at parties brought Ed much joy. He also enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful tables and bookcases. Ed loved his girls and was a devoted loving father to them as well as his grandson Jake who he could always make laugh. Ed is survived by his wife, Nancy (Pacunas) Jarboe, whom he married on August 19, 1967 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Baltimore, MD; daughters, Christina Hamby (Zach) of Evansville and Amy Jarboe (Casey Lloyd) of Los Angeles, CA; grandson, Jake Hamby; several nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends who he considered family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, officiated by Rev. Claude Burns .
