Larry A. Huff

Our beloved Larry A. Huff, born August 10, 1939, aged 80, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2020. A long-time resident of Evansville, Indiana and Austin, Texas, he was the son of Rebecca McConnell Huff and Coultas Huff, who preceded him in death, as did his son, Stephen Huff. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kayron Huff; his brother, Roger Huff; his daughters, Christian Huff Bobe and Brandy Sanders; his grandchildren, Will Higdon , Logan Higdon, Lane Norman and Doug Norman; and great-granddaughter Amara Higdon; his nephews, Kelly Huff and Roger Huff, as well as many adored great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and other extended family members and dear friends. Larry was born and grew up in Evansville, Indiana. As an F.J. Reitz Memorial alumni, he proudly wore his blue and gray and continued to cheer-on his former Panther Football team. After graduation in 1957, Larry proudly served his country in Army National Guard. After completing his service, Larry began what was a lifelong career at Atlas Van Lines. Atlas Van Lines was synonymous with Larry. At Atlas he not only built his career but met the dearest of friends who became family, relocated to Texas, traveled the country he so cherished and at a fateful company Christmas party in 1994 met the love of his life, Kayron. He remained with Atlas Van Lines for 41 years until he officially hung up his hat in 2005. Larry dedicated his life to the things he loved, first and foremost his family and those he adopted as family. He was also a devoted patriot, volunteering for the GOP in any way, shape or form. To say he was a lover of all things Texas – from longhorn football to the hill country - is an understatement. As he would often say, “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast I could.” A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Centenary Cemetery, 14340 Old State Rd, Evansville, Indiana on Friday, March 13 at 3:00 p.m. Military Honors will be performed by the Retired Veterans Memorial Club. To know Larry was to love him, and the family can't begin to express how much he will be missed. He led a wonderful life, and we celebrate his life and continue his legacy in all that we do.
