Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brother, Wayne Bell; and her husband, Dr. Wayne Alley.
Nancy attended Bosse High School in Evansville, Indiana. Throughout her life, she embraced creativity, independence, and a love for people and places. In her early years, she worked as a travel agent with AAA and also alongside her husband in his dental office. She later owned and operated a clothing consignment boutique, where her keen eye for fashion and love of shopping were evident. In later years, Nancy found fulfillment and success as a real estate agent with Weichert Realty in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Nancy lived in Evansville, Indiana, New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Newburgh, Indiana—each place holding special meaning and memories throughout her life. She had a lifelong passion for travel and enjoyed exploring new destinations whenever possible.
An artist at heart for her entire life, Nancy found joy and expression through drawing, painting, and creating pottery. Her creative spirit was a defining part of who she was. She was also a devoted animal lover, especially to her dogs—Toby, Gretchen, Alex, and Rusty—who brought her constant companionship and joy. For many years, she also cherished her pet bird, Jimmy, who held a special place in her heart.
Nancy leaves behind her beloved first cousin, Jane Ann Knowles, who was more like a sister, and Jane’s husband, Gary Knowles. Gary was Nancy’s childhood neighbor and friend, and the three shared a lifelong bond of friendship and family. Gary lovingly cared for Nancy during the last five years of her life, a gift of devotion and kindness that will always be remembered. She is also survived by her nieces, nephew, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and staff at Woodmont in Boonville, Indiana, Heart to Heart Hospice and Walnut Creek in Evansville, Indiana, for the exceptional care, dignity, and kindness shown to Nancy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to Heart to Heart Hospice or the Warrick Humane Society.
Nancy will be remembered for her artistic soul, her love of travel and beauty, her devotion to animals, and the deep, lifelong relationships she cherished. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
