Phillip Michael Sturgell

Phillip was born in Moorehead, Kentucky on December 25, 1950 to Vincent and Barbara. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1969 and was a PFC Rifleman. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.

He was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He loved Jesus, his family and his friends. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, reading and going to flea markets. He was loved very much, remembered for his beautiful sense of humor and will be missed dearly.

Phillip was preceded in death by his brothers Melvin and Akie Sturgell.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Jeana (Scott) Miller of Union Mills, IN, Victoria (Devin) Stone of Newburgh, IN and Barbara (Cash) Sturgell of Henderson, KY; Jeana’s mother, Jeannie of Porter, IN; grandchildren, Brandon (Molly) of Indianapolis, IN, Gillian of Union Mills; and many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In keeping the wishes of Phillip, he was cremated and family will hold a private gathering. They ask that sentiments and love be expressed through donations to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund in honor of Phillip.
