Cecelia was born into this world on February 27, 1959 as Cecelia Anne Darden to her loving parents, William and Margret Darden (preceded in death). She was the second of three children, which included her brothers, Richard Darden Sr. (eldest) and William Darden Jr. (youngest) along with her half sister, Justice Stamps.

As a child, Cecelia was free-spirited, outgoing and fun-loving. During her teenage years, she enjoyed talking with her friends, spending time with family members, riding her bike and having fun while wondering what life has to offer.

Cecelia attended and graduated from Jefferson Elementary School. Later, she attended Crane High School, however, she received her GED from Harold Washington College (formerly Loop College). Cecelia continued to further her education at Dawson Technical Institute where she received her certificate in Nursing Assistant Training along with earning 12 hour in Caregiving Training from the YMCA and receiving a certificate in Medical Terminology from Truman College.

Cecelia had given birth to her first child Joseph Malon Darden. Cecelia met George Edward Moore Sr. in which they had a long courtship and were later married. Cecelia and George were married in 1977. Their marriage lasted for over 44 years in which they produced two children, George Edward Moore Jr. and Jennifer Lashawn Moore.

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, Cecelia began her career working at Boulevard Care Center in January of 1989 in the Bronzeville neighborhood along with working as a caregiver for the YMCA in December 1988.

Starting in June 1989, Cecelia began to work at Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home. Her career at Misericordia spanned for over 29 years. Cecelia started her career at Misericordia at the former South campus located in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. Later, Cecelia was transferred to Misericordia’s North Campus which is the main campus located in the Edgewater/Ravenswood neighborhood. During her 29 years working at Misericordia as a Certified Nursing Assistant, she had not only touched the lives of the many children that were placed in her care but she also touched the lives of many co-workers.

Cecelia has a vibrant energy along with a zest for life that can brighten every room that she entered as well as an incredible work ethic, which forces others to elevate themselves. On her down time, Cecelia enjoyed doing many of her favorite things such as gardening, sewing, cooking and baking. She also liked to do crossword puzzles, play Maj Jong and other board games. She enjoyed laughter most of all. However, Cecelia’s true passion was writing poetry. Her poetry talks about life’s trials and tribulations, joy, pain and even death itself. Cecelia’s passion for poetry was shared with her two children, George and Jennifer.

In June 2019, Cecelia was diagnosed with cancer, which forced her into retirement. For two years, she fought bravely while still maintaining her zest for life by spending time with her family, close friends and associates, along with enjoying her favorite hobbies.

On June 2, 2021 at 8:30pm on a warm late spring evening, Cecelia’s spirit transcended from this earthly world to where the Most High dwells. She has been given by the Father a new mind, a new body and a new spirit free from the pain and sufferings of this world. Cecelia has officially joined the ranks as one of His many angels.

As for those she left behind on earth, though we are deeply saddened that she has left, we are also rejoicing that she is resting in the loving arms of the Father. But until we meet again, this is NOT goodbye, this is see you later, our sweet angel Cecelia.

Colossians 3:17 KJV

“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

Sweet Angel – Poem by Jennifer Moore

Gone today, but not forgotten,

We will miss you so,

But we have to let you go.

You will forever stay in our hearts

But it’s time that we part.

So we let you go and we pray that

You be the angel God always meant you to be.

So goodbye, our sweet angel,

Go towards the light

And say to us, goodnight.

Today – Poem by Jennifer Moore

Today I went to the shore

To search for love forevermore

To find peace and serenity

From all the world’s enemies

Pass the sea and the sun

Holding the hand of

God’s Beloved Son

A visitation will be held on June 17th from 3pm to 8pm at Blake Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W. 103rd St. Oak Lawn, IL. A funeral service will take place on June 18th at 11 am at the funeral home. Interment Lincoln Cemetery.

Family! You all have my deepest sympathy! I was CeCe's last supervisor at Misericordia. We worked together for 19 years. She even came to a few celebrations I had outside of work over the years. Such a generous woman whom we will miss very much! May God comfort and keep you all!

Biografía

Life, Love & Legacy

It was February 27, 1959 when William and Margaret Darden were blessed with a bundle of joy that they named Cecelia Anne Darden affectionately called CeCe. She was the second of three children born to this union. Eldest brother, Richard Darden Sr., youngest brother William Darden Jr. and half-sister Justice Stamps.

In her younger years, she graduated from Jefferson Elementary, Crane High School and received her GED from Harold Washington College. She furthered her education at Dawson Technical Institute with a Certificate in Nursing Assistant, then Caregiving Training at the YMCA and a Certificate in Medical Terminology from Truman College.

Cecelia welcomed her first child Joseph Malon Darden, after which she met and married George Edward Moore, Sr. Their family increased with the additional of George Edward Moore Jr. and Jennifer Lashawn Moore. Cecelia and George shared marital bliss for over 44 years.

Putting her training as a Certified Nursing Assistant into action, Cecelia began working at the Boulevard Care Center in Bronzeville as well as a caregiver for the YMCA. She later took a position with Misericordia Heart of Mercy Home at their South campus in the Back of the Yards and later transferred to their North Campus in the Edgewater/Ravenswood community carrying with her, her incredible work ethic and genuine love for the work she did. CeCe spent 29 years working at Misericordia touching the lives of the children entrusted to her care as well as the lives of her colleagues. It is hard to say if she chose her career path or if it chose her.

A vibrant spirit with a zest for life that brightened every room she entered is one way to describe CeCe. She was a woman with many passions and hobbies. She had a tremendous love of gardening, sewing, cooking and baking which were constant in her life. CeCe also enjoyed board games, poetry and most of all laughter. It was her love of poetry that she focused on the most and shared that love with George and Jennifer. She wrote about life’s trials and tribulations, joy, pain and even death itself. It was important to her to spend time with her family and friends creating memories and fun times.

It was in June of 2019 that Cecelia was forced into retirement due to a health crisis. She bravely fought for two years to overcome her health challenge all the while trying to continue creating memories and fun times as she comforted and uplifted her family and friends as they supported her through this journey.

On June 2, 2021 at 8:30 p.m., Cecelia’s spirit transcended from this earthly world to where the Most High dwells. She has been given by the Father, a new mind, a new body and a new spirit. One that is free from the pains and sufferings of this world. Cecelia has officially joined the ranks as one of His many angels.

Colossians 3:17 KJV

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of Lord, Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
