Dorothy L. Harmon

Dorothy Lynette Harmon-Slaughter, affectionately know to many as Dottie was born on March 6, 1928 in Lexington, Mississippi to the loving parents George Plummer Austin and Roberta Goosby Austin. Dottie was the last surviving sibling of eleven children. She was sister to Perry Austin, Sarah Torry, Claudine Brown, George Austin, Kathleen Pierce, twin brother Wesley Lafayette Austin, Lorraine Lacy, Arenia Favors, Roland West Austin and Earl Austin.

Dottie was a devoted mother to her daughter Lafin Harmon Balenger who also preceded her in death.

Dottie worked for Spiegel for most of her life and later operated a daycare service. She enjoyed life and solving puzzles.

Her memory will be cherished by many other relatives, extended family members and many, many friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends and family will gather for a graveside service for Dorothy that will be held on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Evergreen Cemetery, 3401 West 87th Street, Evergreen Park, Illinois 60805.
