Ed Carmody was a very special man in our lives.  Initially, we started out as Ed's caregivers back in April.  Then in May, Ed took a chance on us and became our landlord.  In the weeks and months to follow, Ed and his lovely wife Joanne became our very good friends.  Spending time with Ed was a dream - he was so entertaining.  We were always so amazed with his stories of him being a Chicago cop.  We both had the opportunity to enjoy his book - a very good read, and told him he had enough material to write another one - he would just smile.  I (Barb) will miss him as we had so much enjoyment snacking while watching the Chicago Bears on TV together - win or lose - we had fun.  I (Jan) enjoyed bringing him special treats - pies, cakes, cookies, root beer floats - whatever would bring a smile to his face and keep him sweet.  As we told Ed on Wednesday before he took his last breath - he was our best buddy-neighbor-client-landlord ever in our lifetime.  We loved him and will miss him dearly, and we know he loved us as well.  Also, we wished him peace and to go forward to a life without pain and misery.  To Ed - dear friend - we had a Pralines & Cream McFlurry in your honor this day.  You are one in a million and we really do miss you!

I only met Ed one time back in July of this year, and it was immediately clear that he was a man of great substance.  Meeting him was an Honor, my Great Privilege, and certainly a Pleasure. I was very saddened to learn of Ed's passing…  he was a great neighbor and positive influence growing up…  Sending my deepest condolences to Joanne and all his family…   rest easy, Shipmate… (He would 'get that'!)

I met Ed when I was a kid, he always was smiling and laughing. He was in my world for quite a while as I grew up. I remember how cool it was to know a police officer. He had a police dog for a while, that dog loved to play ball. I remember Ed working Chicagofest and getting us in for free. And going in Lakepoint Towers. And Maryann and Sue. And Pat and Liz. And just all being friends and hanging out on Francisco.I barely remember a time when Joanne and the girls we not in my life some how. I know Joanne and Ed got together later in their lives. I'm sure Ed will be missed by many people. I hope the memories everyone has helps them through this sadness and brings smiles when they think of him.
