Lt Edward P. Toomey, CFD, passed peacefully at home in the loving arms of his family after a sudden valiant battle with cancer. Devoted son of Winifred E. (née Dignan), CCSD and the late Edward F. (Retired, CPD); cherished husband of Michelle (née Rubino); loving father of Frances, Patrick, Michael and Edward Toomey; beloved brother and best friend of Theresa (Anthony) Rusch and Erin, CCSD; proud uncle of Nora (John) MacKinnon, Colleen O'Sullivan, Amy, Kara and Mia Rusch; great-uncle of Elle and John Paul MacKinnon, Jr; loved by his many aunts, uncles and cousins; "story maker" to his life-long friends and brothers of the Chicago Fire Department.
He had an awesome ride.
