

Emil C. Neubauer, 93, of Crestwood, Illinois passed away on Monday October 5, 2020 at the age of 93 years old. He died peacefully in his sleep in the comfort of his long-time home in Crestwood. He was surrounded daily by family that loved and cared for him.
Emil was born to Cornelius and Hedwig Neubauer on June 15, 1927. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, the late William (Bonnie) Neubauer and the late Raymond (Christine) Neubauer. He was the beloved husband of the late Lois J. Neubauer (Claffy) for 44 years. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his children: Michael (Debra) Neubauer, Theresa Neubauer and Susan (Richard) Johnson; and grandchildren Tamara (Jon) Thongphadith, Jennifer Grages, Michelle (Aaron) Berube, Michael (Rebecca Chapman) Grages, Jeffrey Johnson, Gina (Jeremy) Grossman, Katie (Matthew) Slama, Michael (Mandi) Neubauer, Kevin Johnson, Jillian Grages and Timothy Johnson; several great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ayden, McKayla, Landon, Mason, Gavin, Ethan and Ava; many nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
Emil was an Army Veteran and served during World War II and the Korean War. He was a hard-working Shipping & Receiving Supervisor at Goldblatts for 42 years. He then became a Recreation Commissioner for the Village of Crestwood and was named “Crestwood Person of the Year” in December 1998. He devoted many years volunteering for the Village of Crestwood, including many years to youth baseball and youth football as Head Coach for the Crestwood Colts Lightweight Team and Assistant Coach for the Varsity Team. In his later years, he enjoyed volunteering on the recreation committee and serving coffee to the senior citizens at the Biela Center.
A Celebration of Emil’s life will begin with a visitation on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 from 4-8 PM at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453. The funeral service will begin at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 10:30 AM, immediately followed by a Graveside Service at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, 87th Street & Hamlin Ave Evergreen Park, Illinois.
