

Frances was born in Bellevue, Ohio on February 13, 1939 to Harold Hansen, Sr. (Father) and Clara (Harrison) Hansen (mother). She was the third of twelve children; the youngest of her early-departed mother, Clara, and an older sister to nine more siblings by her father and her stepmother, Wilma (Robinson) Hansen.
Frances moved to Chicago, Illinois, after attending Kalamazoo college and spent a decades-long career working as a public servant for the State of Illinois and then earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine at the age of 56. Dr. Pennix started her own practice and spent almost three decades dedicated to the homeopathic and holistic practice of chiropractic care for countless patients. Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother; an-always present beacon of stability and support to her loved ones. She was a lifelong learner; passionate about education, physical and mental health, writing her memoirs and poetry, and sharing the fruits of her garden.
Frances was preceded in passing by her parents; by her husband, Frederick Thomas Pennix (2015); her sister, Ann Seitz (2016); her brother, Harlow Hansen (1974) and her stepson, Frank Pennix (2006). Frances is survived by her sons Sidney T. Pennix and William M. Pennix and daughter-in-law; Elisabeth H. Pennix and; stepsons Frederick T. Pennix, Earl Pennix, Garfield Pennix, and stepdaughter Bernice (Pennix) Sullivan, many beautiful Pennix grandchildren; Christina Baez, Denzel T. Pennix, Frances (Pennix) Barnes; Lucas T. Pennix, Liam Pennix Della Betta, Franklin T. Pennix, Viktor T. Pennix, and Freya F. Pennix and great grandchildren; Brayden Janisse, Kaya Barnes and Esmeralda Barnes. Frances is survived by her large and loving Ohio family; her siblings Mary Jane Russel in Australia, her sisters Alice Jackson, Ruth Ryan, Sue Hagsten of Whidbey Island, and Martha Hansen; and her brothers Harold Hansen, Jr., Harland Hansen, Gary Hansen, and Carl Hansen – and all of their spouses, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
We will honor the life of Dr. Pennix on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home located at 4727 W. 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois. There will be a visiting hour from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M where coffee and light refreshments will be served and then a Memorial Service in her honor, from 11 A.M. until 12 P.M..
Please attend to share your love with the family of Dr. Pennix and to honor her Life and her passage to Peace. In keeping with Dr. Pennix’s passion for education, she has dedicated her body and remains to science and therefore, there will not be any viewing or burial afterward.
