With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Kelly Ann Bojan, age 57, on April 26, 2026. A beloved mother, daughter, sister, favorite aunt, and friend to people all over the world, her strength, love, and resilience will be deeply missed.
Kelly is survived by her beloved daughter, Chloe; her parents, Jane and John Bojan; her sisters, Janette Bandyk (Bryan Bandyk) and Michelle Taylor (Dwayne Taylor); her nieces and nephews, Alexandria Bojan, Rudy Taylor, Trevor Taylor, Mia Sterchele, Olivia Sterchele, Paige Sterchele, Gabbi Sterchele, and Samantha Taylor; and Chloe’s father and co-parent, Brandon Lee and his extended family, as well countless friends, neighbors and colleagues.
Working as a trial coordinator in the field of HIV, Kelly touched the lives of many young adults, both here and in Africa, in need of guidance, friendship, and support. Throughout her own 15-year battle with breast cancer, she understood the importance of clinical trials and remained hopeful that her participation would help other women live longer. Despite the challenges she faced, she always offered words of wisdom and encouragement to others walking a similar path.
Kelly was a pillar of her Beverly and St. Barnabas communities—a devoted mother and an active member who brought people from all walks of life together while advocating for diversity and acceptance.
Planning, organizing, advocating, and yes, “suggesting,” were among the many things she did best.
She was a passionate cheerleader for all things living and will be profoundly missed. Cheers to Kelly, and to a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Department of Medicine at the UI College of Medicine where they will support the Center for Dissemination and Implementation Science (CDIS).
