Beloved and Devoted Father and Husband ~ Adored Son ~ Fond Uncle ~ Dedicated Friend
Mark Fechner passed away suddenly at home the evening of February 19 at age 61.
Mark is survived by his wife Peggy, with whom he celebrated 25 years, their daughter Maggie, who was the sparkle of his eye, and his mother Marianne to whom he was ever grateful and deeply devoted. Among those who loved him dearly are his brothers- and sisters-in-law Joe and Lisa Scholl and David and Joan Scholl; his dear nieces and nephews and their families Tricia Szczytowski, Steven, Neal, Matt, Kaylyn, Jon, and Annah Scholl; 19 great nieces and nephews; Peggy and Mark’s devoted Old St. Pat’s friends for over 30 years.
People engaged easily with Mark and were drawn to his enthusiasm, positivity and clever wit, that boyish smile, a compassionate heart, a listening ear, and a fierce appetite for discussions of current events and politics. He was always ready to talk business strategies and market performance; and his oh-so-robust laugh filled a room and made us all laugh with him. Mark was a Chicagoan through and through -- a lover, talented player and afficionado of Jazz, an enthusiastic novice of sailing on Lake Michigan. Mark’s pride and passion in recent years were rooted in the growth and development of his business coaching endeavors. He was well respected as a colleague and collaborator, was involved with the Morgan Park Beverly Hills Business Association since 2020. He loved being a part of the choir community at St. Barnabas!
Mark’s Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, 11:00 A.M., with Family and Friends visitation from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Drive Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to help with funeral expenses may be made directly to Peggy. Blake-Lamb Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
