Mary Ellen Mullen

Born December 27, 1934, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Vanacora) Hedderman.

She met the love of her life, Joseph M. Mullen and they married on September 29, 1956, and were married just shy of 48 years.

Mary Ellen was a devoted wife, mother, and Grandmama / Grandma Minnie, whose family were her pride and joy. She displayed strength and spirit and a beautiful, mischievous smile and demeanor. She loved being Catholic and took great pride in her Irish heritage.

Mary Ellen was loved by all who knew her. Now, as she enjoys the love and peace of eternal life, her family takes comfort in knowing, "Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you until we meet again." Mary Ellen is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.

She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband.

She is survived by her three loving children; Mary Jo Mullen, Joseph (Mary) Mullen and Madonna Majka; seven adoring grandchildren; Joseph (Katie) Mullen, Kevin (Lindsey) Mullen, Anne Mullen, Mandi (Phil) Olszewski, Matthew Majka, Maura Mullen and Emma Rose Strenk; and three dear great grandchildren: Teddy, Penelope and Jack Mullen.

A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, October 6, 2023, 10:00 A.M. at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 10235 S. Fairfield Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at a later date.
