Minnie Pearl Bishop Woolfolk was born to the union of Samuel Bishop and Clemmie Thuston Bishop in Cornerstone, Arkansas. “Sister”, as she was affectionately called by her mother was a dream fulfilled. As the eldest child she took on a leadership role at home with her younger siblings and in the family’s business. This training would help to make her a confident and steadfast young woman who would eventually find herself needing those skills to go out and forge a life on her own terms.
Minnie obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Arkansas Mechanical and Normal College, presently known as The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and began teaching fifth graders at the Rosenwald Elementary School in Sherrill, Arkansas.
Later Minnie would leave Arkansas and move to Chicago, Il where she would become a Chicago Public School teacher, obtain her master’s degree and eventually take on an administrative position. She worked for 30 years at Bass elementary school and retired in June 1994. After retiring, she began teaching young teachers how to teach as an adjunct professor at Chicago State University.
In 1971 Minnie united with the Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church under the leadership of Apostle Richard D. Henton. She loved her church and generously shared her time and treasure. When called upon, she faithfully served in the Usher ministry.
Minnie loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. She enjoyed family reunions and time spent with her thirteen siblings and a plethora of nieces and nephews.
Minnie’s beans, greens and hot water cornbread were Michelin Star worthy. Her generosity toward others was unmatched and her beauty inside and out was admirable.
Minnie fought a valiant battle for 19 years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Although the disease would take her verbal communication and ability to attend church and socialize with friends, her dignity, strength, wisdom and humor never waned. Her love for Jesus remained constant.
Minnie passed away peacefully at home with her family on the evening of September 29, 2025. Leaving behind a legacy of love and faithfulness. She will forever be missed.
