I first met Bob at E42 while he was on 511.I remember him always keeping his cool no matter how hectic things might get. He was the friendliest guy at the firehouse.
Since then we have mostly spoken on the phone but Bobs good nature never left him. Bob will be missed by many.
My sympathies,

I did not know Bob personally only through work as he would call me to assist in service restorals. But the genuine appreciation he demonstrated to me whenever something was resolved or cared for was clearly heartfelt. He always seemed very upbeat and positive I was saddened to hear of his passing, my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the Hirtzer family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  I remember Robert as if I had seen him yesterday.  I can recall him, Gary, and Mark sitting on our porch waiting for Dan or Den.  They made a good looking bunch of kids.  May he watch over you all from the heavens above and light up the night sky with that beaming "Hirtzer" smile.  Rest in Peace Robert and God Bless.

I grew up with the Hirtzer Family. I can remember running down Elizabeth Street with Mark, Linda and Robert and Gary. I had spoken to Robert a few times over the last 6 months and we were always going to get together but never did and I will always regret that. May God Bless you and I know you and Gary are having a heck of a reunion

Gary, Brian, and Kristen--I want you to know that your dad talked of you all the time and was SO proud of you.  He is such a huge part of your life and is with you always.  He taught you & gave you so much just by living his life the way he did & being the person he was.  He's by far, one of the strongest, kindest, & most giving men I have ever known...and I see him in all of you.

It is hard to know what to say, other then my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this very sad time.  Bob was a wonderful man who always had a smile on his face.  He will be greatly missed.

I was fortunate to get to know Bob through his circle of high school and college chums.  We will always hold a place for Bob at the Birthday table and remember his good humor and the love he had for his children. He was immensely proud of them. May we all strive to be a little like Bob in our own lives when difficulties arise. He will live on in all who knew him.
