Robin Leslie Mason, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024; Robin was born to Hilda Spencer and William Valentine Mason in London, England. He emigrated from Peterson-super-Ely, Wales to the United States in 1982 and has lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Oak Lawn, IL.
Robin's childhood was spent playing soccer, participating in scouting and being doted on by his aunts Joy and Irene.
Robin worked as a filtration engineer into his 70's where he was immensely proud of his projects and published patents in aviation oil filtration. During his time working, he traveled the world during much of his career, from Sylacauga, Alabama to Singapore.
Forever a fan of the Premier League, Robin could nearly always be found parked in front of the TV on a Saturday morning and calling his sons to gloat if his beloved Tottenham Hotspurs had won.
Robin was a lifelong learner who never stopped "printing the internet" and giving newspaper clippings to share interesting news with loved ones and spark meaningful conversation.
Robin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Mason, who he met while recovering from a soccer-induced knee injury in the hospital in which Shirley was a nurse. The two celebrated their diamond anniversary this past July.
Robin is survived by his three sons Richard (Kelli), Stephen and Chris (Erin) as well as his granddaughters Sara (Kyron) and Rachel.
Robin is also survived by his family across the pond in Brockenhurst, Hampshire including his cousins Margaret Anderton and husband Bob, their children Zena (Paul) Smith and David (Helen) and their grandchildren Zoe and Arthur.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Robin's honor to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
