

S. Wayne Ritter, 78, of Oregon died Sunday February 7, 2010 in McAllen, Texas after a long battle with cancer. Born December 3, 1931 in Mendota the son of Polk M. and Esther (Moir) Ritter. Married to Carole Selmer July 30, 1955 in Utica. Wayne was a US Army veteran, serving in the Korean War and was employed most of his life in the printing business. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oregon, Oregon VFW Post 8739 and the Mendota Elks Club. The most important thing in Wayne’s life was his family – he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Carole; sons: Gary W. (Jan) Ritter of Villa Park, Timothy C. (Christine) Ritter of Anna, Joseph J. (Linda) Ritter of Grayslake and Michael A. Ritter of Oregon; daughters: Margaret A. “Peggy” (Brad) Boncosky of Crystal Lake and Mary E. “Libby” (Doug) Macomber of Carmel, IN; grandchildren: Amy Ritter, Jessica Ritter, Jonathon Ritter, Blake Ritter, Brock Ritter, Benjamin Boncosky, Lauren Boncosky, Jeffrey Ritter, Jason Ritter, Abigail Macomber and Mason Macomber;and sisters: Pearl White and Vera Godfrey. Predeceased by a brother, Sherwood Ritter and sisters, Beatrice Tuttle and Shirley Goodwin. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am Friday February 12 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oregon, with Rev. Richard Kramer as celebrant. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Oregon with military honors. Visitation Friday February 12 from 9:00am to 10:30am in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oregon or Comfort House Hospice, McAllen, TX.
