After 31 years in Akron, Sherry moved to Chicago, Illinois where she completed her education and began employment with the U.S. Government celebrating 30 years of service with the Department of Education and the Internal Revenue Service.
Sherry enjoyed taking long walks, reading African-American fiction, and watching her favorite black & white, foreign mystery, and animated movies. She also cherished spending time with her family and taking care of the people she loved. When she was with them, she experienced explosive laughter and engaged in some “fussin” and “cussin”, which often included the word “Heffa” in lighthearted humorous ways. Sherry expressed that her family brought her the greatest joy and ultimately was what fulfilled her dreams and aspirations.
Sherry quietly departed this life Saturday, August 14 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving sister, Tamara Bowens.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Tarshawn L. Clark (Pamela Clark), of Portage, IN; Keyoka Parks (Brandon Parks) of Chicago, IL; LaToya Bell of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren: Christopher Gordon, Domnique Moore, Kierra Bell, Tamar Clark, Denise Williams, and Courtney Clark; one great grandchild, Sophia Moore-Wells; siblings: Terry Stevenson, Jonathan Clark, Anthony Brooks-Clark, Robin Clark; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
