Barbara J. Thompson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, July 15, 2017, with the love and support of her sons Mike and Doug, daughter- in-law Lynn, and grandchildren Ann, Scott and Katie. Barbara was preceded in death by Wayne, her husband of 61 years.
Barbara was one of the longest living heart transplant recipients, having received a donor heart in February 1994. As was normal at the time, she was not made aware of whom her donor was, however she was extremely grateful for the additional 23 years she was able to spend with her family due to the thoughtfulness of the donor and the donor’s family.
During her work years Barbara worked in the accounting departments at Geil Motors and Hoehn MBZ. She was a member of Twin Cities Christian Church and served as the Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Civitan and Soroptimist.
Barbara’s passion was her family, to whom she was devoted. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. RIP Mom.
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside on Thursday July 20, 2017 at 1:00. Barbara will be interred with Wayne at Miramar National Cemetery.
