Betty Joaun Thoms

Betty Joaun Thoms, age 87 of Carlsbad, CA passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. Betty was born on February 12, 1939, to Nadine and Howard Tollett in Nowata, Oklahoma. Betty was preceded in death by her parents Nadine and Howard Tollett, brother Wayne Tollett, brother William Towler, brother-in-law Blane Roberts, brother-in-law Harold Dicke, husband Ronald Floyd Thoms and daughter Ronda Ann Valentine. Betty is survived by her daughters Debbie Kay Bowers and Ileane Frances Maxwell, son-in-law Michael Bowers, son-in-law Lonnie Maxwell, son-in-law Robert Valentine, grandchildren Raymond Bowers, Jennifer Garate, Kristopher Bowers, Ryan Thoms, Breann King, Lauren Aitken and Brandon Delgado. Nineteen great grandchildren and one great, great grandson. Her brother Loyd Tollett, sister Anita Roberts, sister-in-law Barbara Tollett, sister-in-law Linda Prothe, brother-in-law Alfred Prothe and sister-in-law Loretta Dicke, sister-in-law Norma Towler, sister-in-law Theresa Tollett, and many nieces and nephews. Betty met the love of her life in 6th grade in Hillsdale, Kansas. Ron was smitten by Betty the first time he saw her. She was a cute little girl with dark hair. They dated all through high school in Paola, Kansas. Betty and Ronald married on January 12, 1957, and were married 55 years. Betty’s faith in Christ was very strong, and she dearly loved all her family and will be greatly missed.

Betty’s final resting place will be at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside.
