

Retired Colonel Clarence Donald Barry, slipped quietly into the arms of God in the early hours of December 25, 2016. Don was born in Wichita, KS, August 30, 1925, to Joseph T. and Delphia D. Barry. He was graduated from Wichita North High School in 1943, and enlisted in the Army Air Corp until the end of WWII.
After graduating from Wichita State University, Don went back into the Army where he served for more than 30 years. He served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his service in both Korea and Vietnam. His last military service was in 1976, when he retired as Commandant of the Military Police School.
He was predeceased by parents Joe and Delphia Barry; sisters, Dorothy Poland & Josephine Perry; brother Floyd Barry; son David McClure, and Della Barry the mother of his children.
Don is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lee Barry; sons Don, David, Doug Barry, and Kevin McClure; grandchildren Chrystal, Charlene, Cody, Nicole and Kelly; and three great grandchildren.
After retiring to Vista, Don worked with Arnie Gieseler Realty and with Robert Realty. He was active in Rotary, and he loved to square dance with the Vista Twirlers.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 5 at Calvary Chapel Vista, 885 East Vista Way, Vista.
Grave site prayer with full military honors will be at 2:00 pm at Eternal Hills, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside.
