Dearest Uncle Danny,

Thank you for being the best dance partner a girl could ask for!  I could always count on you for a good dance, a good laugh, a good story and a good glass of wine.  I will miss telling each other stories with our special language that was a crazy mix of Italian, Spanish and English.  You will go down in my history book as the sweetest man I have have met.  Miss you!

Oh,Danny boy.
I have known you over 50 yrs. meeting you in Hawthorne at your barber shop and when you found out I was from Flint and Italian. You and Lucille invited me over for dinner. As fate would have it a couple of years later Yola and I were married and you became my brother-in-law.
The memories are too many to say.
I remember vacationing in Las Vegas 3 times , going to Solvang and Santa Barbara with the two sisters.Taking us trout fishing near Palm Springs.
I will never forget when you and Lucille visited us in Grand Blanc, Mich. You were supposed to be on vacation but you noticed the sidewalk going to my front door was cracked and broken and you spent 5 hours repouring a new 4x4 ft. slab despite me trying to talk you out of it.
That's you, always wanting to make someone feel special.
You can't imagine how many lives you impacted with your genorisity, humor humility and love of family and friends.
Some call you papa, husband,nonno, brother, brother-in-law, gumba and so on but you are like a rose.
Danny  by any name is still Danny.
You will be missed by all and impossible to replace as God only made one of you.

We always enjoyed visiting Danny, Lucilla and Larry in California. There was always great food and wine. I especially enjoyed watching Danny and Lucilla and admiring their relationship as a married couple. They were funny! We have wonderful memories of our family trips there and we will never forget Danny!

My Nonno was the best grandfather any girl could have! I was so lucky to have had him in my life for as long as I did. We were all worried that he wouldn't be there on my wedding day, but being the fighter and strong man he is he was there, smiling and dancing and having a good time. It is one of the best and last good memory I have of him. When I was little I remember my Nonno always having to tell a story, always being around his friends and family, and always in a good mood. I don't think he ever yelled at me for anything :)  I remember being around age 7 or 8 and he would always tell me to drink some wine when we were together eating. He would always sneak me some money when we would come over and tell me to "buy some bubble gum." I miss him so much already and life will never be the same without him, but I know he is with so many loved ones in Heaven and with us everyday keeping us safe. Love you forever Nonno!! xoxo

Nonno Danny,

It was an honor and privilege to have you as a grandfather; you were such a kind and gentle man. I remember when you were still working as a barber, and if we happened to be over your house, you would give us all of your tips from the day. Tania and I would count the money and split it, and no matter how much it was, you let us have all of it. Even when you stopped working, you were always giving us money. You were such a giving person and I know that many of your friends and family witnessed your heart of gold; you were always giving people fruits and vegetables from your garden, wine, bread, anything that you had, you wanted to give away to others.  I will miss your little facial expressions and the winks and smiles you would give us from across the room. You were always so affectionate and was always willing to give a hug or a kiss. How could I forget your little jingles you would make up as you were calling in the chickens, or the way you would say "Dumbedy Dumbedy."

 I will never forget being able to dance with you on my wedding day and how special it was for both of us to dance to your favorite song. You often said that you were afraid you wouldn't make it to see the birth of your great-grandchild but I am so glad that you got to be with Sofia for almost 2 years of your life.  Sofia witnessed such a special man who loved her so much. Nonno, you were the the kindest, most gentle man who taught us that life is simple; and that just being together as a family eating, drinking, and dancing are all that one really needs to be happy. Nonno, you will forever be in my heart. I love you always.

Dear Danny,
We always enjoyed visiting you, Lucilla and Larry in your beautiful home. You made us feel welcome the moment we stepped in to your house. We enjoyed you giving us a tour of your amazing garden and how bountiful it was. Always telling us "take more, take more"!! And we did, we loaded our luggage with oranges and lemons as much as we could. The kids enjoyed your company as much as you enjoyed theirs.You taught my kids how to play bocce and pick eggs from the hens, the simple pleasures in life. You will always be in our hearts.

To us Danilo was a kind, respectful man. He made us feel at home whenever we visited with him. We were happy to spend some time with him 2 years ago. He loved to play poker and I enjoyed playing with him although I did not know how to play the game too well.But his saying was you will learn Mary, and I did.He will always be close to our hearts. Rest in peace.

Zizi Danny, 

You were such an amazing man.  Always so happy to greet everyone with a smile, a hug and a glass of wine. I will always remember gathering eggs from your chickens and playing with the bunnies when I was little. And as an adult, taking a walk with you to your fruit trees and leaving your house with bags full of goodies.  

Your smile was contagious. No one could be in a bad mood when you were around. You couldn't help catching the "Danny Smile".

Vista just won't be the same without you. But, I know where ever you are, you are surrounded with so much love and laughter.

You will be missed!

Zizi Danny,

I never met a man that had so much energy wrapped up in such a little package.  You greeted everyone with a big hug shaking your butt like Daffy Duck.  Your happiness and smile were infectious and even when you were mad it was hard to take it seriously and not laugh back. 

You gave me a lot of great memories as a kid and taught me the essentials of life: hunting, eating, drinking, and playing bocce.  Of course you played by your own rules….dove season meant:  rabbit season, pigeon season, coyote season, or whatever crossed your path that day. There was no such thing as a bag limit.   

No one could eat or drink enough to satisfy you.  You made sure everyone enjoyed the moment of food, drink, family and friends to the fullest.  It was always a festa at your house. 

You were one of the “Greats” that left us with a life of memories and stories.

Danny was a wonderful brother-in-law.When I was 10 or 11, he came to pick up my sister for their first date. I was crying because they wouldn't let me go.Danny was understanding and nice about it and I understood I couldn't go on their first date. Dannny always let me use his car and Lucllia and I would go he malls.allday. the trips that we took to California we always went homes with a trunk full of fruits and vegetables.We had to hide it because we had to go past the fruit police.He was confident the fruit cops would not find it.Danny was a very loving caring and givng man.One of my friends met Danny at Jessicas communion and liked him immediately and called him Little Danny.Danny has left us with a lot of great memories.I will miss him and think of him often.He is in heaven now.Feeding chickens and rabbits taking care of his garden and playing cards and making wine for
relatives and frends.Rest in peace Danny. You will be missed.

Zizi! So many wonderful memories of you. You always cherished the girls in the family. You called us pimbinichia, and gave us great hugs. You were always interested in what we were doing and made sure we were ok. I loved when I would visit, if I had a cold or sore throat, you were convinced I should have a shot...or maybe some ratafia. It usually worked! 

As you got older, you seemed to enjoy playing cards a lot. One year you were the big winner in poker and you seemed so happy. Of course after you won you were ready to share it with everyone! I remember a picture of you that night with a New Year's Eve hat, surrounded by chips and cash. 

When I think of you, I smile. I think you do that to a lot of people. It's a great thing!
