Dorothy Claire Atchison

Atchison, Dorothy Claire, “Dot”, 89, of Carlsbad, CA, entered into eternal rest surrounded by family on May 17, 2021 in Carlsbad, CA. Dot was born to Joseph Atchison and Catherine (Muldoon) Atchison on November 19, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ.

Dot had many firsts in her life as she graduated in from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City, NJ in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting as the only female in her class and the first female to graduate from their night school program. Dot’s achievements included acquiring her Certified Public Accountant, Registered Municipal Accountant and Public School Accountant licenses. Throughout her career, she held various accounting positions including, Controller for Cedar Grove, NJ, Controller for Jersey City, NJ, Auditor for the Jersey City Board of Education, and the Ford Motor Company.

In 1982, Dot relocated to California and was employed by Allstate Insurance Company and the Tri-City Medical Center. In 2009, she rescued her dog, Lila from a life of horror and gave her a life that was like heaven on earth. They remained faithful companions until the end. Dot was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Carlsbad, CA since arriving in California.

Dorothy was predeceased by her Parents, her siblings William, Joseph, Catherine and Marie Trasmundi. She leaves to cherish her memory and outrageous stories; her Godsons, Goddaughters, and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins and a multitude of kind and caring friends.

A memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 3821 Adams Street, Carlsbad, CA on June 22, 2021 at 11:00am.
