Frank Marino LaPietra 06/27/1924 ~ 02/19/2010 VISTA -- Frank LaPietra died peacefully, surrounded by his two children, Jean and Paul. As a young man, Frank enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the YMS mine sweeper during the Normandy Invasion. Frank met his wife to be, Wanda Stone, and they were married in Riverside, Calif., on June 19, 1948. He resided in North County San Diego for the past 35 years. He loved the climate, and surrounding his home with beautiful flowers. Frank is survived by his daughter, Jean; son, Paul (Becky) LaPietra; and three grandchildren, Vincent, Teresa, and Mallory LaPietra; and his sister, Betty West. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Marino LaPietra; his brother, Ralph; sisters, Marietta, and Lucielle (Martin) Prettyman; and his wife, Wanda La Pietra. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Las Villas de Carlsbad, especially the Vintage Club staff, for their excellent and compassionate care they provided Frank during his declining months. The family would also like to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice of San Diego for their vigilant care and concern of Frank up until his last day. Services were already held.
